According to industry statistics in February 2019, the total number of optical fiber users in Shanxi reached 9,792,000, accounting for 96.6% of the total number of broadband users, accounting for the first consecutive month in the country for nine consecutive months.
Since 2013, the Shanxi Provincial Communications Administration has organized the communications industry to implement the “Broadband Shanxi” special campaign for six consecutive years. By the end of February 2019, the total number of broadband access ports reached 20.21 million, of which the total number of FTTH (fiber-to-the-home) ports reached With 18.9 million, the FTTH port accounts for 93.5% of the broadband access ports. The total number of base stations reached 188,000, the total length of optical cables reached 1.2 million kilometers, and the bandwidth of Internet inter-provincial exports reached 16895G. The total number of fiber users reached 9,792,000, accounting for 96.6% of the total number of broadband users.
In the next step, Shanxi Management Bureau will further improve the construction of communication infrastructure, implement the objectives set by the provincial government’s three-year action plan, promote the construction of six major projects, optimize urban and rural 4G network coverage, promote 5G site planning and base station construction, and assist Shanxi digital economic development.
